Blooms & Things Florist – Est. 1985Â
Blooms & Things began as a labor of love in the summer of 1985, when Vicki and Ron McFall, along with Vicki’s mother, Iva Hughes, purchased the flower shop from Carol Jones of Arnold, California. Vicki had worked for Carol for about a year before the opportunity to buy the business arose. They officially opened the doors on August 1, 1985.
Back then, the shop was nestled in a cozy space beside Daffy’s Roost, a local restaurant run by Vicki’s parents in Cedar Center. It wasn’t uncommon for customers to stop in for lunch and leave with a fresh bunch of Margaret Daisies. As demand grew, so did the need for space and support—Iva often juggled both the restaurant and the flower shop at once.
Growth and Family Roots
As the 1990s approached, Vicki’s parents sold the restaurant, and Blooms & Things moved into the Junction Building—known locally as “Whiskey River,” once home to the old Arnold Post Office. This move tripled the shop’s size and welcomed more helping hands from the McFall family, including Vicki, Ron, Iva, Cecil, their sons, and extended family members. During this era, Blooms & Things also became a Hallmark partner, offering cards and gifts alongside their floral designs.
By 1994, the business relocated again—this time into the former Applewood Liquor Store. With a large 11-door walk-in cooler, it was a dream come true for any florist.
In 1997, Jim Berganz of Berganz Florist in Angels Camp offered Vicki the opportunity to take over his shop. Since Blooms & Things was already delivering there regularly, it made perfect sense—especially as fuel prices were rising. Vicki’s son, Mark, stepped in to lead the expansion and build lasting relationships in the Angels Camp community.
In 1999, Blooms & Things moved the Angels Camp location to the old A&W Root Beer building—an iconic and highly visible spot that quickly became a local favorite. The early 2000s brought even more traffic with a shopping center constructed across the street, eventually leading the Angels Camp location to surpass the original Arnold shop in sales.
Talented floral designer Tammy Zeyen joined during this time, becoming an essential part of the team—especially with her stunning wedding work—allowing Mark to focus more on operations and business growth.
 A Time of Change
In July 2006, Blooms & Things opened a third location in San Andreas, timed with its 21st anniversary. Though it showed early promise, the 2008 economic downturn took a toll. With reduced foot traffic, the location closed exactly two years later, on August 1, 2008.
The original Arnold store, rich with family memories, was downsized in early 2009 and moved into the Barry Ward building. Sadly, it closed permanently in November 2010.
Yet through all the ups and downs, the Angels Camp shop endured. By 2012, the business was thriving again—thanks in large part to the booming wedding scene in Calaveras County. The region’s scenic beauty and growing number of venues turned it into a destination for weddings. By 2015, Blooms & Things was handling weddings for couples from around the world and proudly celebrated its 30th anniversary.

Where We Are Today 2025+
Through each chapter of growth and change—new storefronts, bittersweet closures, and years of booming wedding business—one thing has remained constant: Blooms & Things’ deep roots in family and community.Â
Now, as we celebrate 40 years in business, that foundation means more than ever.
In March 2025, we faced one of our greatest challenges with the sudden passing of our founder, Vicki McFall. Vicki was more than a florist—she was the heartbeat of Blooms & Things. Her passion, creativity, and care touched every bouquet, every event, and every customer.
Though she’s no longer with us, her spirit continues to guide everything we do—from the way we arrange flowers to how we care for each customer.Â
Today, under the guidance of her son, Mark McFall, Blooms & Things remains proudly rooted in Angels Camp and continues to serve Murphys, Arnold, Copperopolis, San Andreas, and Valley Springs. While the once-bustling wedding scene has quieted since 2020, the shift to smaller, more intimate celebrations has been a welcome fit for us—allowing for greater focus, customization, and the personal touch we’re known for.Â
In June 2025, we embraced a new chapter by transitioning to an online and phone-order-only model. Though our operations have evolved, our commitment to heartfelt service and floral artistry remains unchanged.
We operate under the City of Angels Camp Business License #25044. Orders can be placed 24/7 at BloomsAndThings.com, with delivery Monday through Saturday, between -10 AM and 2 PM+, from Mark’s home flower studio in Angels Camp.
As we look to the future, our mission is clear: to honor Vicki’s legacy by helping others celebrate life’s meaningful moments—with flowers, from the heart.Â
Thank you for being a part of our journey.
